A HIGH speed chase ended with a car crashing in the front garden and drive of a Thurrock home.

At one point a car being pursued by Essex Police's traffic division was clocked at 110mph in a 50mph zone.

Essex Roads Policing tweeted about yesterday's incident (Monday, June 1) which ended in Heath Road in Orsett Heath.

They said that the driver, or a cloned vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of "lots and lots of offences" with an officer adding the driver tested positive for drugs.

Publishing a picture of the crashed car an officer commented: "The driver of this cloned car thought they could outrun my BMW by driving by failing to stop at 110mph in a 50mph limit.

"He was wrong but unfortunately crashed into an innocent person's house.

"Driver arrested for lots and lots of offences and thankfully no one hurt!"

Essex Police said: "A man has been arrested following a pursuit in Heath Road, Grays.

"Officers attempted to stop a blue Ford Focus Zetec on the same road shortly before 6.55pm last night, Monday, 1 June.

"Following a short pursuit, the car then collided with the front of a house and the driver decamped the vehicle.

"A 23-year-old man from Wickford was taken to hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop when directed, drug driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance."
