TWO drivers emerged without serious injury from a horrific-looking crash on the A13 late last night. The road was closed for some time while the car occupants were treated and the cr4ash cleared away.

The incident happened near Orsett and after the incident police have spoken of the benefits of wearing seat-belts, which in this case were possibly life-savers.

In the aftermath of the crash police said: "This evening, officers were at the scene of a serious Road traffic collision on the A13 at Orsett.

"Fortunately, neither of the drivers sustained serious injuries. This shows the clear importance of why seatbelts are required!

"We thank the patience displayed in motorists, as the emergency services, highways agency and recovery agents got to work.

"We would also like to extend a special and very big thank you to the members of the public who stopped at scene prior to emergency services arrival, providing first aid and comfort to those involved in the collision.
