THURROCK'S BME group has organised an online event to talk about the 'Truths and Myths' around Covid-19 vaccines.

The group is a representative organisation for the black and minority ethnic community within the borough.

It is hoping the Zoom event will dispel some fears within the black and ethnic minority communities about the vaccines.

Keynote speaker will be MP Kwasi Kwarten, Secretary of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

A spokesperson for Thurrock BME said: "There has been a lot of speculation that BME residents will not receive the jab due to rumours circulated on social media.

"Some of the concerns that have been raised are: Luciferase enzyme and the role in vaccine manufacturing, Use of aborted fetal cells in vaccine, conspiracy about Bill Gates, Vaccine was manufactured too quickly, microchip insertion, vaccine affecting fertility, the '666' mark of the beast, among others.

"This event will allow Thurrock BME ask the experts questions about the vaccine which will enable them make informed decisions when they are invited to be vaccinated."

The event will take place on Thursday, 25 March between 5 and 7pm and anyone wishing to take part can register through this link.
