Lorry driver taken to hospital after M25 crash and fire

A LORRY driver was rushed to hospital early this morning after a crash involving two HGVs on the M25 in Thurrock which caused significant delays.

The incident happened at 5.39am this morning, with one of the lorries subsequently catching fire lorry catching fire, on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 29 and 30.

Police and fire crews were called to the scene and as a result both carriageways on the motorway were completely shut between junction 29, for the A127, and junction 30, for Lakeside.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called to the M25, between junction 29 and 30 to reports of a collision between two lorries.

"Officers attended along with Essex Fire and Rescue and London Ambulance Service. One of the lorries involved in the collision was on fire. The driver was safely extracted from the vehicle with no injuries.

"The driver of the other lorry was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition."
