THE owner of a Thurrock store has been praised for his generosity that has helped local children cope with the pro0blems of Covid-19.

Balendran 'Balen' Misalamany is the owner of the NISA store on Derwent Parade n South Ockendon and he was asked by local ward councillor Chris Baker if he might be able to help Chris support local children in the community.

Mr Misalamany's response has been described as amazing by Cllr Baker, who told Thurrock Nub news: "Balen replied in a way that no one expected and he donated £1,200 to the local school's charity fund to help keep school meals running, even outside of term time and over the Christmas period.

"As a result of Balen's incredible generosity, Somers Heath School has been able to do considerably more to help under-privileged children.

"Balen has really stepped up to the mark to help his local community and is a role-model for all business owners at this difficult time. I can't thank him enough for what he's been able to do and I speak for the parents of these children when I say 'thank you' to Balen".
