ENGINEERING works and traffic lights on London Road in Stanford-le-Hope look set to stay in place until at least Friday - but the threat of a cut in water supply to residents looks to have been averted.

The works, reported on Thurrock Nub News yesterday (Tuesday, 20 April) have caused significant disruption to peak time traffic.

A spokesperson for Essex and Suffolk Water Water said: "On Monday night one of our technicians identified a leak on our underground pipe network in the area near London Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

"A repair crew was dispatched that night, however it was identified that in order to carry out the repair further work had to be done on London Road and this couldn't be done until the following day.

"Crews reattended on Tuesday and have been working on the repair since.

"This is ongoing and is expected to last until Friday morning.

"Customers' water supplies should not be affected by the repair, however, technicians will check pressures, and if needed, will advise customers as necessary.

"We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to those in the affected area and thank them for their patience and understanding while we work as quickly as possible to return things back to normal."
