Weekend Centurions
Weekend Centurions

BELHUS CC 1st XI travelled to Colchester for their sixth Essex premier League match at the weekend having reached the mark of having played a third of the season's matches. League points for wins and losing batting or bowling points are the name of the game. Results matter in this beautiful game!

Danny Joyce opened with 62 runs and the balance of the runs were shared down the order to make a total of 198. Colchester and East Essex hauled that back, scoring 202 runs with three wickets to spare. League points wise, Belhus CC earned seven points and keep them in eighth place in the Essex Premier.

Belhus 1st XI are away at Hornchurch next Saturday, 19th June, in what should be a keenly fought local derby.

Belhus CC 2nd XI hosted Harlow CC at North Stifford. Leading by example, captain Martin Guilbert opened the batting with an impressive 130, ably assisted by Adam Dudmish 46 and 'in form" Jack Plane 59 to run up a total of 277. In response, Harlow could manage just 248 but their lower middle order batsmen held on for a draw. Belhus CC picked up 11 points and are in 5th position in their league.

Belhus CC 3rd XI lost by two wickets but picked up a useful 9 league points. Well done to Ashir Saleem for bowling a "5for". Belhus CC are in 7th position in the 3rd XI league.

Belhus CC 4th XI continued their winning ways at Billericay. Belhus CC earned the maximum 20 league points. They are in 4th position in their 4th XI league, with a lot of their players showing some fine form at the moment. Ewan Day took three wickets with a bowling economy of 2.4 Youngster, Aidan Fourie scored 44 runs and backed that up the next day, at Abridge, to score 105 in the Sunday XI match.

Father and son duo, Simon and Charlie Walker batted out an impressive 131 partnership in the Belhus 5th XI, just coming up seven runs short against Hornchurch.

Would one pick a performer of the week, possibly youngster Aidan Fourie at Abridge for the Sunday XI closely followed by 2nd XI captain Martin Guilbert at home v Harlow on Saturday. Both players are Belhus cricketing centurions this week!
