WILLIAM Edwards School has appointed its Student Executive team for the next academic year.

Each year, William Edwards School appoints a Student Executive team at the end of Year 10 to undertake various roles and responsibilities around the school during Year 11, both during the day and at extra-curricular events.

From September, the team will be responsible for overseeing Student Voice across the school and each member will take lead of a different school group, such as PALs, Green team, LGBTQ+ and Wellbeing Champions to ensure each group is making an impact on the student body.

Students will also chair regular meeting with House Leader, Miss Pooley, where they will provide feedback on each group and make sure that different events are running throughout the calendar year.

There was a thorough process to earn a place on the team, which included a letter of application;

interview with the House Leader; and a full day on an anti-bullying or well-being champion course, where they then had to put together ideas for implementing what they had learnt around the school.

Members of the new team have acknowledged the responsibility and access to wider opportunities that the new role will provide them.

Rianna said: "The process was easy to understand and fun to make ideas for and the workshops

were super fun to have creative freedom with. I am looking forward to making a difference for the

SEN and LGBTQ communities within the school."

Lucy said: "I am absolutely honoured to be picked to work amongst the Student Executive team. It's really heart-warming to know that I was picked from a huge number of applicants to become a role model and somebody to look up to for pupils across the school. It's an absolute dream come true and I genuinely can't wait to see what the next year has in store for me!"

The school have also appointed their new Head Boy and Head Girl roles and have welcomed Ben and Elizabeth as Head Boy and Head Girl, Poppy and Eloise as Deputy Head Girls and Henry and Toby as Deputy Head Boys.

New Head Boy, Ben, said: "Happy is a complete understatement to how I'm feeling right now. I feel so relieved and I'm also so excited to fulfil my role to the best of my ability. Being in this position has been a passion and goal of mine since I stepped foot inside William Edwards and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next year brings!"

Headteacher Simon Bell said: "It's been a real privilege interviewing pupils for our Student Executive team and we've been impressed by how much the older pupils want to act as positive role models for the rest of the school.

"This is a perfect role for students who want to take on extra responsibility, extend their experience and provide themselves with opportunities which will support their applications to college, university and work. This leadership role will contribute to school improvement and gives all our students at WES a voice.

"All students should be extremely proud of themselves for the dedication and commitment they

have shown towards gaining their new role and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in September."
