THURROCK Nub News was about the borough yesterday (Saturday, 4 June) to capture the spirit of the Jubilee by visiting a number of street parties and an event in Grays Town Park where we caught up with the Mayor and Thurrock Council's portfolio holder for communities.

We also took in the official opening of a new defibrillator during a Jubilee barbecue and spoke to borough MP Jackie Doyle-Price.

Funding for the defibrillator at the Grays RAF Association Club in Southend Road came from the efforts of residnts in Stanford-le-Hope who organised a Christmas lights display to support Katie's Heart Appeal (the annual display has been regularly featured on Nub News) and we returned to meet some of those residents yesterday where they were among the first set out tables and chairs for a day of fun took on St Andrew's Way. You can view our first stop of the day here.

Among many street parties, there was lots of competition at a gathering in Scott Road, Chadwell St Mary, including local ward councillors Sara Muldowney and Daniel Chukwu taking part in the three-legged race (above). You can see many more images of party courtesy of local photographer Rob Lay here.

At Grays Town Park there was an afternoon of entertainment featuring artists presented by Thames Delta Radio and Quest Music Services, stalls and other entertainment including Chinese dancers. It was an event enjoyed by the Mayor, Cllr James Halden and Cllr Qaisar Abbas, the communities portfolio holder.

More fun in Grays took place at Seabrooke Community House where we met up with ward councillor Tony Fish - we ended up at Ingram Road in Little Thurrock, where neighbours enjoyed an afternoon of music, games, laughter and celebration.

There will be more events across the borough today (Sunday, 5 June) to round off the weekend and again Nub News will be popping in to capture some of the fun.

A big day in London awaits as the Thames Clipper leaves Tilbury this morning.

Representatives from Thurrock took to the Thames this morning to travel by a specially commissioned Clipper to take part in London's Platiunum Jubilee Pageant.

Organised by the Kinetika arts organisation young people from Arts1, Dimensions Dance Company, Impact Dance, Official South Essex College and USP College will be taking part in the Thank You Dance. Representatives of other community groups in Thurrock have also been invited to join in the parade, which will be shown live on BBC TV this afternoon.
