The converted taxi.

A PLANNING application has been put forward to Thurrock Council to allow a converted Black Cab to be used as a coffee bar.

It is planned to site the vehicle on land close to All Saints Church on Drake Road in Chafford Hundred between the hours of 8am and 6pm seven days a week. The vehicle will not be a permanent fixture and will be removed each day and while it is parked, its engine will not be running so the applicants say it will not be causing noise or air pollution.

ACROSS the borough lots of people are putting their feet up this evening (Sunday, 4 October) after4 a day of running, jogging and walking to take part in the Virtual London Marathon.

Nub News has been been reporting through the day on a number of residents who have been taking part in the nationwide event event which replaced the actual marathon which was twice postponed because of Coronavirus.

AMONG many Thurrock residents taking part in today's (Sunday 4 October) virtual London Marathon was James Pinkerton who ran the event to raise funds for the Barts Charity.

Thurrock Nub News featured James earlier this year when he missed out on the actual event because it was postponed because of coronavirus but he repeated his efforts with another 26 mile plus run today, accompanied by his friend Tim Whitcombe.

THE UK's biggest cinema chain, which included a major complex at Basildon Festival Leisure Park, is set to announce it will be closing its UK venues, putting up to 5,500 jobs in Britain at risk, after the latest James Bond movie was delayed into next year.

Cineworld is understood to be preparing to announce plans to close all its 127 theatres in the UK as soon as Monday.

AVELEY avoided a potential banana skin to win in today's (Saturday, 3 October) FA Cup Second Qualifying round but Grays Athletic suffered the harsh disappointment of losing on penalties in their clash.

And East Thurrock United picked up a first point of the season and felt they might have come away with even more had they got the breaks at Brightlingsea Regent in the Isthmian Premier.
