BUNTING from a Co-op coronation pack doubled up and helped a Thurrock school celebrate its May Fair with a touch of pomp and circumstance.

Horndon on the Hill Primary School was one of three recipients of packs of bunting and other royal memorabelia to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

The items were used to decorate the school and grounds in the run up to the coronation, much to the delight of its pupils - and the same happened at East Tilbury primary School, another recipient of one of the packs.

And the third pack went to South Ockendon and was used to set the scene for a coronation party at the local community hub.

At Horndon, it was decided to leave all the bunting up as the school held its annual May Fair last weekend, which was deemed a huge success.

One of the visitors was borough MP Stephen Metcalfe who was impressed by the decorations and the family atmosphere at the annual event.

He said: "Many thanks to the Friends of Horndon School for inviting me to their annual fete. It was a fantastic event and it is great to see how popular it has become over the years."
