Semi Senior Accountant - growing regional practice

£26,000 - £30,000 DOE

An established and reputable independent accountancy practice based on the outskirts of Chelmsford is looking to recruit an Accounts Semi-Senior to support the firm's continued growth.

This role offers a great opportunity to work closely with a varied and interesting portfolio of both SME and larger corporate businesses as well as to gain audit experience if this is something of interest.

The Role

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will take responsibility for assisting with, and in some cases managing, a portfolio of clients, delivering a broad range of compliance and accounting services.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A)
• Drafting corporation tax computations and CT600s for review and submission
• Supporting with monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Completion and submission of quarterly VAT returns
• Supporting bookkeeping requirements using cloud-based accounting software such as XERO, Quickbooks and Sage
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and support their ongoing business needs
• Building trusted, professional relationships and acting as a key point of contact

About You

• 2+ years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice as either a Semi-Senior or Junior Accountant
• AAT qualified, studying or part-qualified (ACCA) - QBE applications also considered
• Have experience working with a varied SME client portfolio
• Be confident communicating directly with clients
• Be well organised, detail-oriented, and keen to progress your career within practice
