THE company behind the planned gravel quarry close to Linford has submitted a second application to Thurrock Council to open up another site for mineral extraction in the borough.

The proposed scheme at Linford, known as Orsett Quarry, has attracted widespread opposition from residents. A consultation process has been set up by Thurrock Council and more than 100 objections have been registered,. You can make your points about that scheme via the red button below.

The latest application by Ingrebourne Valley Ltd is to open up a quarry for extraction of sand and gravel on land at Medina Farm off Dennises Lane to the north of South Ockendon.

The land at Medina Farm is currently used as paddocks, measuring approximately hectares currently grazed on by horses.

The extraction will last around two years with, at peak times during the operation, around 142 lorry movements a day to and from the site. It will take an estimated further two years to fill and restore the land.
