ANOTHER clash between planning officers and councillors may be looming on Thursday (7 January) when Thurrock Council's planning committee meeting will debate an application for four new detached bungalows at Orsett Heath.

The application first came before members in November and it seemed some members were heading towards rejecting their officers' recommendation for refusal in favour of granting permission.

Cllr Gerard Rice was in the vanguard of those wishing to give approval, saying: "You will be aware this in my area and I did call this in thinking there would be an almighty cry about having four more bungalows but the only concern has been the condition of the road.

"That being so, by use of an planning condition, we should approve this. We need more aged dwellings like these bungalows."

However, no decision was reached as members agreed a site visit might prove helpful.

The visit took place on 15 December and councillors will report their findings and attempt to reach a decision at this week's meeting.

The full agenda for the meeting, including details of this specific application, can be found via this link.
