AFTER what could, at best, be described as a disappointing start to the season, Tilbury FC have announced the departure of of manager Marc Harrison and his assistant Liam Wallace.

The duo have been at the club since 2018 and initially dragged the Dockers out of an Isthmian North relegation struggle.

The dawn of Covid brought the premature end to the 2021 season with Tilbury at the top of the table.

The club, buoyed by the financial support of a planned ground move that will see them move into a new stadium and houses built on the existing site, were believed to have had a substantial playing budget at the disposal of the management team this season, and they signed some experienced players, but the campaign to date has been disappointing.

Tilbury sit six places above the relegation zone after 11 matches, with just three league wins and a draw to their name.

Despite an FA Cup preliminary round 7-0 away win at North North Greenford United the Dockers went out in the next round and exited the FA Trophy in their first match.

Dockers chairman Danny Nash said: "I would like to thank Marc and Liam for their tireless work for Tillbury FC. They are two dedicated managers who I wish every success in the future."

A club statement quoted the departing management staff as saying: "It's been an absolute pleasure to manage this great club who we wish the very best for the future."

Tilbury's next match is at home to Coggeshall in the league on Saturday (6 November).
