AFTER yet another accident this morning (Sunday, 13 September) at a junction on a busy Grays road a local councillor has reiterated her call for it to be reconfigured.

The junction between Bradleigh Avenue and Lodge Lane in Grays had already gained a level of notoriety for crashes before Thurrock Council changed it in 2018.

When work was completed local residents warned the change had actually made the junction more dangerous but the council said that wasn't the case!

Ward councillor Cathy Kent was among those who raised concerns and she and the residents have since witnessed a regular succession of crashes – the latest coming this morning at around 7.30 when a Vauxhall and Peugeot van were in collision. Minor injuries were reported and it took police some time to clear away the debris and cars from the site.

Cllr Kent said: "I have raised this a number of times but I keep getting told there isn't a problem. The fact that we keep getting crashes and injuries suggests that it is. It's an old cliché but do we have to wait until someone is killed before something is done? The junction is clearly a problem, but it seems no-one in the highways departments wants to acknowledge that.

"As a ward councillor it's my job to flag up concerns and dangers because we are close to these problems. I do that but it's so frustrating when nobody listens. I will be raising this matter again as a matter of urgency."
