A YOUNGSTER who has been described as inspirational has spoken of the benefits she has gained after coming through a Thurrock Prince's Trust programme - and she has now joined the team helping other young people.
Lucy Boatman has now become a qualified youth worker with Thurrock Council and attributes her achievements to the charity.
She says: "Before joining the team programme I was lacking in confidence, self motivation and fed up going to interviews and not getting anywhere.
"I enjoyed the challenge working with other people and supporting the staff.
"Throughout the 12 weeks I was getting more confidence and was improving my skills to help others
"After completing the programme I was asked to stay and support the scheme. I had the opportunity to study a Level 3 NVQ in Youth and Community to develop my skills in youth work.
"I also was a Young Ambassador for the Prince's Trust where I got to give back and share my story
"I am now a qualified youth worker at Thurrock Council, all thanks to the Prince's Trust. I would recommend its team programme to any young person who is lacking in confidence, struggling to get a job or has any qualifications."
Cllr Lyn Worrall, who works on the Thurrock programme, said: "Lucy is inspirational, she's been on an amazing journey."
