Man arrested and held after East Tilbury shop raid

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a shop in East Tilbury.

It was reported the Co-op in Princess Margaret Road had been broken into at around 3.50am on Wednesday 7 July. A large amount of alcohol was taken.

A 35 year-old man from Tilbury was later arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and burglary.

He is currently in custody.

Police are also investigating a reported attempted robbery at the Tesco store on Kings Street in Stanford-le-Hope on Monday evening.
