Plan for seven new homes on already congested town road

PLANS have been submitted to Thurrock Council asking for permission to demolish a bungalow on a busy and often congested Thurrock road so the space can be used as an access to seven new 'age-restricted' homes to be built behind it.

The bungalow to be demolished is at 63 Wharf Road, Stanford-le-Hope, just a few yards opposite its junction with Cabborns Crescent.

The new homes behind it will be six two bedroom semi-detached bungalows and one two bedroom detached wheelchair accessible dwelling. There would be 12 car parking spaces.

Wharf Road is currently the subject of much controversy as it is the access road to the Stanhope Industrial Park and there have been many significant incidents of traffic problems - one which recently spilled over into an assault on a resident who was fed up with the problems caused by lorries.

You can view the full application and post a comment on the council's planning portal here.
