A MAN wanted in connection with the death of a showman in an incident on Stifford Hill between South Ockendon and North Stifford is being held by police.

Yesterday officers investigating the death appealed for help to trace a named man.

Today they asked media to delete the appeal for information and announced: "We are no longer looking for Reni Remblance who we wanted speak to in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Grays during the early hours of Friday 12 June.

"A 28-year-old man from South Ockendon has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, procession of a firearm with intent and failing to appear at court.

"He remains in police custody."
