Updated: Police in numbers at Chadwell flats incident. Two taken for treatment in ambulances

POLICE officers attended a significant incident at the tower block flats in Chadwell St Mary this evening and at least two people were seen being taken for treatement by ambulance.

Little detail has been issued about what has happened but at 6.36 this evening (Wednesday, 2 March) police issued the following statement: "We are currently on scene of a disturbance at an address in Godman Road, Chadwell St Mary.

"The incident is ongoing and officers are working to resolve it safely."

There has been no further official statement to date but the last emergency service vehicles left the area around 9pm.

Earlier residents reported seeing two people, including one on a stretcher, being taken from the flats to nearby ambulances and then away from the scene for treatment.

We will bring you any updates once received from Essex Police.
