HASSENGATE Medical Centre on Southend Road in Stanford-le-Hope is currently closed for a deep clean following an incident this morning which ended with the death of a popular town landlord.

Gino Renoldi from the Railway Tavern and Gino's Taverna was attending the centre when became very ill and was rushed to Basildon Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff at the centre and emergency workers he passed away.

Though it is not confirmed that the incident is related to coronavirus, the centre has been taking no risks and so everything was closed down for an immediate deep clean. It is hoped the centre may reopen for patients around 5.30pm today (Friday, 3 April).

Many tributes have been paid to Mr Renoldi and condolences sent to his family.
