A THEATRE company is set to produce a unique artist piece of performance art based on Thurrock, using salvaged and collected litter.

The Rendered Retina Theatre Company is one of four groups who have been allocated funding by the Land of the Fanns Landscape Partnership Scheme through its Community Action Fund.

Another round of funding is now available and grants of up to £5,000 could help community groups, small charities and organisations within the Land of the Fanns area that meet some of its main objectives and visions.

Land of the Fanns is a unique £2.4 million Landscape Partnership Scheme, awarded £1.36 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2016.

The five year scheme brings together nine partner organisations with a commitment to work towards a shared goal of enabling local people to discover, restore and enjoy what's special about the local landscape.

Thames Chase Trust is the project's lead partner and other partners are Forestry England, Thames Estuary Partnership, Brentwood Borough Council, London Borough of Havering, Essex County Council, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, Thames21 and Thurrock Council.

You can find out more about Land of the Fanns and its grant scheme here.

And you can also learn about a photography competition for residents, recently featured on Thurrock Nub News.

The Rendererd Retina Theatre company is currently working on its funded project called 'A Salvaged Thurrock'.

The company says the project will reintroduce residents to the beautiful and vibrant spaces on their doorsteps and celebrate the rich forgotten history of the area.

Salvaged and collected litter will be up-cycled into set, props and art installations for a free, site-specific performance, inspired by hearing and collecting local people's stories.
