Virus death toll in borough is up by five

Five new deaths have been recorded in Thurrock in the latest figures provided by the government.

The total number of people in the borough whose death is recorded as coronavirus-related now stands at 133. That figure was taken on 5 June.

Between 29 February and 5 June 24 per cent of all deaths in Thurrock have involved coronavirus.

As of today (Tuesday, 15 June) 360 people in the borough (local population 174,341) have been confirmed as having had the virus.

Nationally 41,969 people have died in the UK and 298,136 have been confirmed as having had Covid 19.

The number of deaths day-on-day increased by just 38 - and the number of confirmed cases by 968.
