Wall painting tribute to NHS turns heads in Thurrock

By Neil Speight 14th May 2020

AN 'amazing' Banksy-style artwork has been created on the side of a Thurrock building paying tribute to the NHS.

It is on the side of the Carters Dessert Diner on Kings Walk, Grays, close to the Thames and was created by a professional, but anonymous artist this morning.

Charlotte Houlder from Carters said: "We wanted to do something to show our appreciation of the great work being done by the NHS and decided we would bring in an artists to create this.

"We think it's stunning and it will stay there for many years, long after this is over people will see it and remember just what heroes the people in the NHS have been.

"It's our way of saying thanks."

The painting has already started turning heads. One passer-by, Robert Chinnery, contacted Thurrock Nub News to say: "It's amazing. It's so well done. When I saw it I thought it was done by the artist Banksy, it's that good. Maybe, of course, it was!

"Whoever did it, it's really good and a wonderful tribute to the NHS, well done Carters!"

The restaurant is remaining open for takeways during the coronavirus lockdown. Anyone wishing to check out its menu can do so by visiting its Facebook page or you can order by calling 01375 386444.
