Halfway point as McAvoy progress with construction of £37.5 million Orsett Heath Academy modular school

By Fiachra Coyle 7th Dec 2023

The construction of a £37.5m modular school in Grays has passed the half way point and progress is all on target, reports construction company McAvoy.

The Northern Ireland-based firm is constructing the new Orsett Heath Academy which will take the form of a three-storey building which will accommodate more than 1,200 pupils.

McAvoy specialises in off-site manufacture of buildings and is piecing together the component of the new building.

The building is going up alongside Stanford Road in north Grays.

It is set to open in September 2024.

The school, adjacent to Thurrock Rugby Club, consists of a large sports hall and main hall which rise to two-storeys in height and it also has a wide range of classrooms for all subjects ranging from science classrooms to art classrooms.
