Everyone's favourite vicar returns to Grays
THE long-awaited performance of A Vicar of Dibley Christmas (The Second Coming) is finally set to grace the stage of the Thameside Theatre, Grays this 10-12 February.
Following the antics of Geraldine and co as they take on 'The Greatest Story Ever Told', comedy fans will be amazed at the remarkable mimicking talents of this group in the first of a year of hit BBC comedies marking the centenary of the BBC in 2022.
After being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which saw theatres up and down the country close their doors in 2020, Thurrock Courts Players finally bring their spectacular look- and sound-a-like cast back in the sequel to one of their most successful shows. The original play performed to packed houses in 2014 and won Courts Players the 'Best Play' award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, beating productions from across the South East.
Director Martyn Williams said: 'We are thrilled to be performing this show at long last on the Thameside stage in its 50th anniversary year. The complex is still under threat of permanent closure from Thurrock Council but we refused to give up hope and, thanks to local support, here we are just a few weeks away from performing. Recent discussions between the council and a dedicated group seeking to take over operation of the complex have been more optimistic, nevertheless this could still be our last performance here after calling it home for the last 50 years. Please support us and the negotiations by getting your tickets and showing the council that Thurrock needs and values its theatre.'
Tickets are available to buy from the Thameside Theatre website www.thameside.ticketsolve.com or by calling the Box Office on 0345 300 5264.
