TWO men from Thurrock who were among a group arrested and charged following police intervention at a reported hare-coursing event in Cambridgeshire have had all the charges against them dismissed.

The pair pleaded not guilty after being charged following the police action in January last year when they swooped at the major event and arrested 43 people. Twenty-five were eventually charged with a number of hare-coursing related charges.

Among them were Anthony Coyle, 32, a nd Francis Coyle, 20, both of Pilgrims Lane. They pleaded not guilty at Peterborough Magistrates' Court in February last year.

Fifteen months on - and after a major investigation by multiple police forces - the cases against the borough duo have been dismissed.

Such a simple little phrase, cases dismissed, and yet it represents a nightmare of uncertainty and misery. It is time that people are properly compensated for prosecution failures.
