A BOROUGH couple and a local social club have come up with a show-stopping way to say thanks to all those who have been helping with Covid-19 vaccinations in recent months and weeks.

John and Mary Clark have organised a free evening of entertainment which will be staged at Stifford Clays Club later this month – starring Simon Rawlings as The Big Bopper, a role he played for six years in the West End production of The Buddy Holly Story at The Strand Theatre.

The evening, which will be invitation only, will take place on Friday, 17 September.

John says: "We have both been volunteering at Stifford Clays Health Centre since mid January and have seen the wonderful effort these people have been doing to vaccinate the people of Thurrock and how helpful to the people to everyone even when they are unsure about having the vaccine.

"So we have decided to put on an event to thank them all. Mary and I will be paying for the act and the club have given the venue."
