A cannon blast to say farewell

A MEMORIAL service for Purfleet Heritage and Military centre co founder and honorary president Alan Gosling will take place by the Thanes riverside on Sunday, 11 May.
Those wishing to attend at the centre are asked to meet at 10.30 for 11am. There will be a short service with cannon firing followed by refreshments in the centre.
Announcing the event, Alan's wife Sue said: "In the 30 plus years of the centre, so many amazing people and events have been enjoyed and he had so many tales to tell.
"He was very proud of what had been achieved in saving the building to reaching the same status as the tower of London. It was a hobby that certainly over took life."
