A Grace-ful rise to the top

By Neil Speight 17th Dec 2019

A SOUTH Ockendon teenager has been recognised as "Young Talent of the Year" at the recent Essex TV awards.

Grace Brazier, 13, was given the accolade after being nominated by her teacher, Principal Julie Barker, from TipToe Stage School which has branches in Ockendon and Romford.

The award panel considered the nomination and then shortlisted Grace where she was up against some strong competition from across the borough.

Commenting on the win, Grace said "I can't quite believe it. I was thrilled to be nominated, and never thought I'd win.

"I'd like to thank Julie and all my teachers at TipToe for pushing me and of course my mum and dad for their encouragement and support for doing what I love".

Grace also performed at the official award ceremony alongside her TipToe pals with the ceremony being hosted by Big Brother star and MTV personality Jess Impiazzi.

This award comes at the end of a busy year as Grace was asked to audition for the Voice Kids back in the summer and was also shortlisted at the nationwide Young Stars ceremony in the Best Vocalist for under 13s category.
