A SECOND attempt is being made to win permission for an infill home on a Tilbury road.

A full planning application for a new house to the side and rear of the existing dwelling at 101 Feenan Highway was refused in May last year, but the owners have come back with another bid for a new one bed home.

The initial application was refused because planning officers said it would result in the loss of a characteristic gap along Feenan Highway, which is characterised by significant gaps between buildings, and lead to an awkward relationship with No.99A.

Planners added: "This would result in an incongruous feature which would adversely impact upon the street scene and the general character of the area."

The latest is of a different design and its architects say: "The current proposal is considerably altered from the original scheme, it is evident that the sole reason for refusal has been the focus of the current design philosophy.

"The new proposal aims to blend in with the street scene, and add value to the appearance of the immediate row of properties."

They also point that a nearby site already has a new build in place and say the planners should be consistent.
