A NEW familiar part of life at the Port of Tilbury has been the various messages beamed out with a lighting display from the two large Saga cruise ships that have spent much of the Covid-19 pandemic laid up in the docks.

In their latest display the crews of the Spirit of Adventure and Spirit of Discovery put on a light show to say thanks to Tilbury.

The Spirit of Adventure has reached its one year in the port and put up a display saying 'Tilbury #365' while the Spirit of Discovery, which joined her last September said: 'Tilbury Thank You'.

Earlier this week Thurrock Nub News reported on some good news from the world of cruise ships, with the Fred Olsen line announcing it would be basing a number of its voyages from the port's cruise terminal when the holiday industry gets going again.
