THE closure of a major road through Thurrock which has been in place through much of today because of a burst water main is expected to be lifted by tomorrow (Friday, 22 October).

A major flood blocking the A128 between Chadwell St Mary and the Orsett Cock roundabout has caused major disruption and teams have been working to solve the problem all day.

This evening, a spokesperson for Essex & Suffolk said an end was in sight to the problem.

She told Thurrock Nub News: "We currently have a team on site dealing with a burst on the A128 near Chadwell St Mary, Thurrock. At this time supplies to customers have not been impacted.

"We were made aware of a burst on a strategic main earlier today and have had teams on site working to resolve the issue, to minimise impact on customers supplies and local residents we will be working on throughout the night to complete the emergency repair.

"While we currently have a full road closure in place this will be removed tomorrow morning. Traffic management will remain in place to allow safe working while the repair and subsequent resurfacing take place.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this causes for customers and motorists in the area and we will be providing updates on Twitter at @eswater_care."
