A13 among roads affected by heavy rain

HEAVY overnight rain and morning showers caused the closure of a number of Thurrock roads and some others were barely passable.

The westbound A13 between the North Stifford interchange was closed for a couple of hours because of water and mud on the carriageways though two lanes were declared passable at around 10am.

The A128 was passable in places only by HGVs in the approach to the A127 and the roundabout at the end of the Dock Approach Road in Tilbury near the ASDA was several inches deep with water and passable only with care.

Several rural roads were also closed or barely passable but as they drain with a break in the rain in mid morning it is expected they will now be passable.
