RESIDENTS and motorists are reminded that the Orsett Cock roundabout will be subject to closures from this evening (Friday, 4 June) and throughout the weekend.

In addition the A13 will be closed to enable demolition of the Orsett West Bridge.

The closures start at 9pm tonight and remain until 5am on Monday 7 June.

A13 traffic will be diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the A128 (Orsett) junction.

Traffic wishing to travel northbound via the Orsett Cock Roundabout will be diverted via the A13 westbound to the A1012 (Stifford) junction and back again via the A13 eastbound.

Thurrock Council, which is responsible for the A13 road widening project, is asking road users to plan their journeys in advance, with non-local traffic urged to use alternative routes such as the A127.

The demolition work will generate noise, some vibration and mist and dust across the area and the council has already apologised in advance for the intrusion.

The work is part of the A13 Road Widening Project. The project involves widening the road between Stanford-le-Hope and Orsett, replacing 4 bridges and installing traffic lights at the Orsett Roundabout to help manage vehicle flows.
