THURROCK Nub News was on the scene this afternoon (Tuesday, 22 September) as firefighters tackled a blaze on a lorry trailer carrying newsprint on the A13.

The dramatic incident happened around 12.30pm and was captured live and broadcast on our Facebook page by editor Neil Speight who happened to be passing on a bridge over the A13 at North Stifford.

The lorry driver managed to stop the vehicle and detach his cab from the trailer and move to safety.

You can view the footage here.

The A13 westbound looks likely to be blocked to traffic for some time and a temporary closure was put on the roundabout on the North Stifford interchange.

Further information will be posted on this incident when we have it.
