MOTORISTS and residents are reminded the A13 will be closed in both directions between Stanford-le-Hope and Orsett Cock roundabout this weekend.

From 6am on Saturday, 9 April to 5am, Monday, 11 east and west carriageways will shut and Thurrock Council is advising motorists to divert via the A127.

It suggests that a diversion for local traffic only will be via the A1013 Stanford Road.

And next week Thurrock Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing, surveys and repair works along the A13, between A1014 The Manorway (Stanford Interchange) and A176 Nether Mayne (Five Bells).

The works will take place over three weeks at nights between the hours from 9pm to 5am with directional road closures as detailed below: -

A13 eastbound carriageway will be closed, from Stanford Interchange to Five Bells, for 8 nights from Monday 11 to Friday 22 of April 2022, excluding weekends and bank holidays.

And the A13 westbound carriageway will be closed, from Five Bells to Stanford Interchange, for 5 nights from Monday, 25 to Friday, 29 April 2022.

During the road closure, traffic will be expected to follow the diversion route which will be in place via A128, A127, A176 and vice versa.

During this weekend's closure the following measures will be implemented:

Measures will be in place to protect these areas during major closures for A13 widening, including:

extra electronic and temporary signs warning drivers not to use unsuitable diversion routes

closure of Stifford Clays Road for eastbound traffic between the A1012 North Stifford Interchange and the access road to numbers 2-24, preventing HGVs and other traffic from attempting to travel via Stifford Clays and Orsett

a temporary one-way system in Horndon on the Hill, using Gordon Road northbound-only and Victoria Road southbound-only

closure of Orsett Road in Horndon on the Hill in both directions between High Road (The Hole in the Wall) and Francis Close, but maintaining access to the post office, church and homes Buckingham Hill Road closures Buckingham Hill Road will be closed temporarily in both directions between the entrance to Linford Household Waste and Recycling Centre and the A1013 Stanford Road during all full and partial weekend-long closures of the A13. A signed diversion route will be in place via Muckingford Road, Linford Road, Chadwell Hill, Marshfoot Road, the A1089, the A13 and the A1013 Stanford Road.
