A13 was closed for almost seven hours in wake of crash that left bike rider fighting for life

POLICE have now given details of last evening's multi-vehicle crash which closed the A13 eastbound near Sadler's Farm for almost seven hours.

The emergency services, including the air ambulance attended and a forensic examination of the site took place after those involved in the crash were taken care of.

A police statement sats: "We were called at around 5.10pm yesterday (Friday 28 May) following reports of a collision in Pitsea.

"Three vehicles – a van, car and motorcycle - were in collision at the A13, Sadlers Farm.

The A13 was closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land.

"The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital via air ambulance. He sustained injuries considered to be life threatening.

"The road was reopened around midnight.

Anyone who may have either witnessed the collision or captured dash cam footage, is asked to call us on 101 quoting incident 866 of 28 May.
