POLICE have now confirmed seven cars were involved in the incident: "Seven cars were involved in a collision, but no-one was trapped. Crews looked after a woman who suffered minor injuries until ambulance crews arrived, and left the scene in the police's care shortly after 6pm."

WESTBOUND traffic on the A13 between Pitsea and the Manorway junction is reportedly (5.15pm) at a standstill following an incident involving multiple vehicles.

The eastbound carriageway is also partially affected.

An update from Essex Police says: "We are currently at the scene of a collision involving at least four vehicles on the westbound carriageway of the A13, close to the Five Bells roundabout.

"The carriageway is temporarily closed while we make the area safe.

"One person has sustained an injury and will be taken to hospital by paramedics.

"Drivers should check before they travel and plan their journeys accordingly, and we thank everyone for their patience while we work with emergency service colleagues at the scene."
