By Neil Speight 22nd Dec 2021

FIREFIGHTERS, police and ambulance teams responded to an accident on Southend Road in Stanford-le-Hope that happened around 5pm today (Tuesday, 21 December) and involved two vehicles, one that rolled onto its side.

The road was closed for about an hour and three quarters but was reopened at around 6.40pm.

The accident happened a hundred or so yards past the junction with Second Avenue heading eastwards close to Southend Road's junctions with Golding Crescent and Balmoral Avenue.

The road was closed while emergency teams dealt with the incident. Buses were diverted around the town centre via Corringham Road, while cars either followed that route or travelled past making a detour along Branksome Avenue.

However, emergency services had left the scene by 6.45pm

A spokesperson for Essex Fiore and Rescue said: "We attended this incident (two vehicles involved) but crews left the scene fairly quickly as no-one was trapped."
