EMERGENCY services, including the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, attended an incident in the Moss Bank area of Grays yesterday evening (Wednesday, 15 May).

Despite the best efforts of the responding services, a teenage boy, with a previously known medical condition, was declared dead after being transferred to Basildon Hospital.

Essex Police officers managed the scene in Grays, while ambulance service personnel dealt with the complex medical emergency.

The significant police presence in the area was to ensure that medical services could carry out their efforts without encumberance and to ensure fast access for emergency medical services. There are no criminal elements to what happened, not anything suspicious that should concern the public.

A statement from the force said: "Alongside ambulance service colleagues, we were called to reports of an individual suffering a medical emergency at around 6.50pm.

"The individual concerned was taken on to hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious.

"His family have been informed and are being supported. A file is being prepared for the coroner.

"We thank the public for their patience and understanding while this incident was dealt with."
