THE Essex & Herts air ambulance landed on a narrow green adjacent to a Stanford-le-Hope residential estate this morning as it rushed a doctor to a nearby medical emergency which involved a young girl.

Residents on the Maple Park estate off Butts Lane came to their windows and doors around 9.15am to watch the helicopter, which had been scrambled from its base at Earls Colne, make a landing.

The medic then attended the incident in nearby Prospect Avenue where several ambulances and a paramedic were also in attendance.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "The service responded to an emergency call shortly before 9am regarding an incident in Stanford-le-Hope.

"We sent two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance to the scene in response to reports of a young female in cardiac arrest.

"The patient was transferred by land ambulance to Basildon & Thurrock Hospital for further urgent care and treatment."

After a stay in Stanford of about 45 minutes, the air ambulance then left the scene.
