A CHARITY promoting regeneration in Tilbury has received a £1,500 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the town.

The Tilbury Riverside Project was set up in 1992 with the aim of promoting economic, social and cultural regeneration in Tilbury and surrounding areas. The project is responsible for the Tilbury Christmas lights, has a programme facilitating guided walks and has previously worked with people from the community living with Alzheimer's disease.

The donation from the Amazon team has been spent on new white lights for the trees and Christmas trees in the town.

Project manager Annie O'Brien said: "We're passionate about the regeneration of Tilbury and the surrounding area and it's great to know that our work is being supported by the team at Amazon. Thank you for this donation – it means a lot to us."

Amazon's Tilbury general manager Carlos Guijarro Benito added: "The Tilbury Riverside Project does important work in our community and the team in Tilbury is pleased to support the charity with this donation."
