AFTER almost two years, because of the pandemic, Thurrock U3A managed to hold a celebration event recently and approximately 300 members attended.

Chairman Dave Angus said: "The event proved to be a great success and the committee are very proud of the result. As you will see from the photograph a good time was had by all.

"Thurrock U3A is a true "community club" that welcomes new members along, who are made very welcome, and anyone coming along for the first time on their own they have nothing to fear as they are made very welcome.

"We meet at the Civic Hall on the last Wednesday of each month at 10am except August and December and anyone interested can turn up to find out more. The next meeting is on Wednesday, 27 October. There are nearly 30 interest groups available and hopefully more will open up in the future."
