THURROCK branch of the Re-engage charity started 2026 in the most wonderful way with a tea party at Stifford Clays Social Club.

All nine tea party groups run by the charity, which supports lonely, vulnerable and elderly people in the borough community, along with volunteer drivers, enjoyed the afternoon.

Regional organiser for the charity, Loraine Coleman, said: "Thank you to Wonderland Catering and Kelly for providing such a delicious afternoon tea, and a very special thank you to Pam Oliver for entertaining everyone so wonderfully. Thank you Laura for the fabulous video.

"We were delighted to celebrate six birthdays, enjoy a truly lovely afternoon, and warmly welcome new volunteers, Sian, Jill and Neil to our Re-engage family.

"Also a big thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for driving and caring for our guests — without your continued love, kindness, and support, these fabulous tea parties simply wouldn't be possible.

"A huge thank you to Julia for the very kind free use of the hall."
