Another huge turnout for Stanford's Service of Remembrance
By Nub News Reporter 8th Nov 2026
ONCE again Stanford-le-Hope's annual Service of Remembrance drew around 2,000 people to the centre of the town today (Sunday, 8 November).

The service was led by Rev Tom Rout, who was assisted with prayers by young people from St Clere's School and Mossbourne Academies.
Parade master was Warrant Officer Greg Bagshaw and the whole event was pulled together by the hard-working Stanford War Memorial Committee which can trace its history back to 1920 when the memorial was unveiled. Sound and music were provided by HPE.

Volunteers marshalled the road closures and provided free tea and coffee to those attending the service, which began with a parade of young people.

Wreaths were laid by East Thurrock MP James McMurdock, local councillors and representatives of many local organisations.
