RESIDENTS, particularly in communities like Orsett, Horndon on the Hill, Chadwell St Mary and Stanford-le-Hope, and are set for another weekend of disruption as the A13 will be closed in both directions between the Manorway and the Orsett Cock roundabout from 9pm this evening (Friday, 20 August).

This will allow workers to carry out drainage, road construction, surfacing and barrier works as part of the A13 Road Widening Project.

The closures remain until 5am on Monday 23 August with traffic diverted via the A1013 Stanford Road instead.

To minimise the impact on residential areas, road users are urged not to divert through nearby towns and villages, with non-local traffic encouraged to use the A127 instead to avoid causing congestion.

Thurrock council has added that, from Monday morning, road users will notice that sections of the temporary highway barrier on the A13 have been removed and replaced with cones. The temporary 40mph speed limit will remain in place for the safety of road users and roadworkers, with average speed cameras operating at all times.
