POLICE have now released details of an incident in Aveley earlier in the week when officers attended after reports that a group of teenagers were threatening a man in the rear garden of an address in High Street and might be in possession of a firearm.

The alarm was raised around 1.15pm on Monday, 3 May but by the time police attended the group had left the area. Damage had been caused to the property.

A statement from Essex Police says: "Further investigation has led us to believe that a firearm was not involved, but our enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information or Ring doorbell or Dash cam footage from the area is asked to please contact us.

"You can submit a report online here where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. Please quote incident 491 of 3 May.

"You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
