POLICE have issued an appeal for information after a cyclist suffered a head injury after being hit by a car outside Lakeside shopping centre.

The 26-year-old was struck by a silver Toyota Auris on the Lakeside Retail Park car park service road at around 9.55pm last Wednesday (18 December).

He suffered a head injury near the entrance to the Travelodge hotel and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged and the driver is helping police with their enquiries.

As investigations continue officers are appealing to witnesses or anybody with any information about the incident to assist with the enquiries.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, please call PC Jason Mowbrey in the Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 101, quoting incident number 1199 of Wednesday 18 December."
